Local Artist Highlight – Allyson Gernandt

allyson garnet braceletAllyson Gernandt is an amazingly talented Silversmith here in Bryson City. Her artistic aim is to create jewelry that “just fits” you – who you really are, not just the outfit you are wearing. The result is that she has created an amazing and diverse collection of nature-inspired jewelry with everything from simply beautiful everyday pieces to stunning statement pieces.

I have become completely hooked on her jewelry since purchasing my first piece a few years ago. On most days am wearing at least one of her pieces and people constantly compliment her striking, yet simple designs. After seeing some of Allyson’s new pieces at Nantahala Outdoor Center’s Spring Fling last weekend, I already have my birthday, anniversary and Mother’s Day requests lined up! She has some simply amazing agate pieces and some fun, colorful and sparkly druzy earrings that I just love! She also has some great sterling silver canoe and kayak earrings and pendants that are perfect for casual summer days by the river.

If you are interested in having a custom piece made, Allyson will work with you to choose the stone, metal and design that will be meaningful to you. There is something special about having a piece of jewelry designed especially for you – it becomes a signature – as unique and special as you are.

You can find Allyson at the Farmer’s Market in Sylva on Saturday mornings and at most local festivals or you can simply go to her website to view her collection online. You are sure to find the perfect piece for yourself or for someone special!
