Are you ready to switch up your New Year’s Eve routine? Why not spend it in Bryson City!
While we may not have the raging night life one finds in the city, we have other activities that are not only fun but will leave you with a sense of peace and well-being – a perfect start to 2015.
Here are some things you can do to ring in the New Year in Bryson City:
1 – Grab a sandwich to go from the Filling Station on Everett Street. There, the friendly staff will whip up a great lunch you can put into a daypack and take with you on your New Year’s Eve adventure.
2- Head out to Deep Creek National Park for a nice hike. There multiple loop trails ranging from ½ mile to over 4 miles – each with at least one beautiful waterfall. Take in the fresh air as you think about the high points of 2014 and make plans for the coming year. Find a nice spot by the trail to enjoy that sandwich.
If you prefer something a bit more adventurous, take a trip out to Tsali Recreation Area and spend some time on the amazing single track biking trails. Make sure to bring $5 cash for the daily trail pass – it is run on an honor system but you can get ticketed if you don’t pay, so it is better to be safe than sorry. If you don’t have a mountain bike, you can rent one at Tsali Cycles in Bryson City. The staff there will set you up with everything you need and can answer any questions you have about the local trail systems.
3 – Take a ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Tuckaseegee River as you make plans for the New Year and share in a special champagne toast. There are multiple departure times on New Years Eve. Click here to see the schedule.
4- Head over to the Cork &Bean for an amazing dinner. The chefs at the Cork & Bean use locally sourced, organic ingredients to create spectacular southern-inspired meals. The specials are always amazing. We recommend starting with an appetizer of the Medjool Dates – so, so good!
6 – Drop by the Nantahala Brewing Company to sample some amazing local craft brews and enjoy live music as you ring in the New Year.
If you prefer to celebrate in a quieter environment, stop by Ingle’s grocery store to pick up a bottle of champagne (or beer, wine or sparkling cider – whatever your preference) before heading back to your cabin. We also have an ABC store in town if you prefer something stronger.
5 – Head Back to your to enjoy the hot tub and perhaps even a massage from Avanti Mobile Spa. They will set up a little sanctuary right in your cabin and offer a wide range of spa services. Call ahead for an appointment.
6 – Ring in the New Year in your beautiful Watershed Cabin – in the hot tub, by the fire or watching the ball drop on TV – whatever your preference. Make plans or resolutions for the coming year and remember to include another trip to the Smoky Mountains in 2015!
