Celebrate the History of the Railroad in Bryson City

Vintage RRThis weekend, Bryson City will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad with its 12th annual RailFest! Come on down to the Depot in Bryson City and enjoy a bit of southern culture with music, dance, storytelling and railroad food. The festival kicks off Friday evening with a special “Wet Your Whistle” train excursion.  There will also be a special photo excursion to Andrews on Sunday.

You will also get a chance to see a collection of vintage Railroad Motorcars that were used to inspect the tracks and to shuttle track gangs from town to the work sites as the railroad was being built. The cars are now privately owned and used for leisure purposes. You can score a ride on one during the festival this weekend!

The Depot is located at 226 Everett Street in Bryson City; just a few minutes’ drive from your Watershed Cabin.
