Looking for something to do for the Fourth of July? There are lots of fun, family-friendly activities going on in Bryson City!
Festivities kick off with the Firecracker 5K at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day with the Freedom Festival downtown featuring local artisans, crafts, delicious food and lots of great music all day long on 3 different stages! Take the little ones down to Kid’s Street which has a climbing wall, water slide, bouncy house and a mini choo-choo ride. You can even bring your dog along (on a leash, of course!) and enter the “Strut Your Mutt” event that has awards in several different categories including “Best Tail Wag” and “Looks Most Like Owner”. At the end of the day, find a good spot to enjoy one of the best fireworks shows in the Smokies! Click here for a schedule of events.
We recommend arriving early so you can find good parking and bringing along sunscreen, insect repellent, a rain jacket (just in case!) and chair so you can sit while watching the fireworks.
You can even take a ride on the Freedom Train! The train departs at 8pm from the Bryson City train depot and travels to historic Dillsboro where you can browse the shops for souvenirs and more great crafts before returning for the big fireworks show!
After the fireworks, head over to Nantahala Brewing Company to sample some of their award-winning craft beers (we suggest you try Trail Magic!) while enjoying live music from local artists Liz and AJ Nance!
Bryson City knows how to do Fourth of July! Come on down and join the fun!
