Looking for Excitement? Try the Mountain Top Zip Line!

photoWhat is exciting and new in the Nantahala Gorge this summer?  The Mountain Top Zip Line at Nantahala Outdoor Center! With 10 zip lines (the longest is ½ mile!) and 2 observation platforms, the Mountain Top Zip Line is an exciting way to enjoy the amazing scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains and Nantahala National Forest. It is sure to be a highlight of your trip to the Smoky Mountains! Each tour is guided and takes about 3 hours.  The trip will involve a bit of hiking and because the zips are long, there are weight restrictions. (If you don’t weigh enough, you may not make it all the way to the platform and end up stuck somewhere in the middle!).  NOC staff will photograph your zip line experience and you can view and order the photos online after your trip. Check in at the Adventure Center about 30 minutes before your trip to complete paperwork and get instructions. Make sure you wear closed-toed shoes, comfortable clothing that is not too baggy and leave valuable jewelry behind.  And ladies, trust me, you do not want to wear short shorts! Harnesses and very short shorts are NOT a comfortable combination! Tours start every hour and while you don’t need reservations, you can make them if you wish by calling (888)905-7238. NOC is located in the Nantahala Gorge, just a short drive from your Watershed Cabin. After your tour, you can enjoy a riverside meal, visit the Outfitters Store or just sit by the river and enjoy some live music!
